Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) has recorded a growth of 23 per cent in net profit to Rs 671.25 crore in the third quarter of the current financial year from Rs 546.83 crore in the same period last year. India’s largest mortgage finance company also recorded a strong growth in its loan disbursements. Mr. Deepak Parekh, who has been serving the finance major HDFC Ltd as its Chairman and CEO for the several years, has decided to quit from his position. The present Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of HDFC Ltd will take over as Vice-Chairman and CEO on January 1, 2010, the time when Mr. Parekh will officially leave the position. In a new move to compete with SBI, the largest bank in India, private sector lender HDFC has decided to offer loans at a fixed rate of 8.25% per annum. HDFC has offered all new loans before April 1, 2010 at the rate of 8.25% which will remain fixed till March 2012, after which the loan will bear a floating rate based on prime lending rate(PLR) of the bank. read more
HDFC, India’s major mortgage lender will soon purchase approximately 41% stake in the Credila Financial Services. The corporation has decided to buy stake in the privately owned company from DSP Merrill Lynch Capital Ltd. In a proclamation, the financial major said that the acquirement of the equity stake is subject to compliance with appropriate norms. DSP Merrill Lynch Capital Ltd holds a minority equity stake in Credila Financial Services, which is an education loan provider. read more
Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) today announced that it has agreed to acquire approximately 41% in the fully diluted equity share capital of Credila Financial Services (P) from DSP Merrill Lynch Capital. The aforesiad acquisition is subject to compliance with applicable regulations. Shares of HDFC gained Rs 14.85, or 0.54%, to settle at Rs 2,758.45.
